Franklin Van Court WPA era ink wash drawing/ watercolor of a farmer. Beautiful image. Size of the work is 10 5/8 X8 inches. With the mat it is 14X11 inches.

Franklin Van Court lived in Hyde Park, Illinois. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Art Students League, and the National Academy of Design under Robert Henri, Anthony Angorola, Frederick Grant, and Charles Hawthorne. He was a member of the Chicago Society of Artists. Mr. Van Court exhibited at the Union League Club and the Art Institute of Chicago. He won prizes from the Union League Club and the Chicago Society of Artists in 1929, 1931, and 1933. He exhibited a painting along side Grant Wood’s American Gothic in 1933 at the Whitney Museum American Art Show in New York City.
