$695.00

Description

Great WPA era cerca 1930s watercolor of an African American nude woman. Very well done piece. Size of the work is 14X9.5 inches. Great use of colors. Excellent condition. Some discoloration around edges because of tape. Would look wonderful in a frame and matted. Rowena Fry studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and Hubert Ropp Art School. She was a member of the Works Progress Administration and made numerous murals in the Chicago area including for Oscar Meyer and Abbott Labs. She taught classes at Great Lakes Naval Base and lived at Tree Studios, where many of her fellow artists resided. She shared an apartment with Natalie Henry.
