Description
Leon Garland Jewish Chicago WPA Artist art deco stone lithograph. Made probably around the 1930s. Signed lower right. Artist made a similar painting. Size of the work is 7X9.5 inches. With the mat it is about 17X10 inches. Appears to be in great condition for its age.
Leon Garland is a very famous Chicago artist and part of the Chicago Society of Artists. He worked in the textile industry and immigrated here from Russia. He was also good friends with Morris Topchevsky and became involved with Hull House. He also was well traveled and studied at the Andre L’hote School in France.
